This week, our LKQ Academy team completed the final assessment days of a first-of-its-kind bespoke training programme designed specifically for Motorpoint – the UK’s leading independent retailer of nearly new and used cars.

What we did and why
Working closely with Motorpoint, our Workshop Solutions experts, led by Mike Bell (Head of Workshops Solutions Sales), teamed up with Chris Hill (Technical Training Manager, LKQ Academy) to design and deliver a bespoke programme aligned to their operational needs.

From August 2025 to February 2026, 16 Motorpoint colleagues attended regular sessions at LKQ Academy sites across the UK.

The programme concluded this week at our flagship LKQ Academy site in Tamworth, where candidates completed written examinations and practical assessments across five live technical stations.

Successful participants will receive Level 2 IMI accreditation for each completed course, alongside an LKQ Academy certificate. One overall ‘Colleague of the Course’ will also be recognised.

The sessions covered:

• Principles of Service Inspection and Maintenance
• Principles of Around the Wheel - Steering Geometry
• Principles of Diagnostics
• Principles of Electrics & Electrical Testing
• Principles of Braking
• Introduction to Car Tyre Fitting
• Advanced Car Tyre Fitting, Sales Techniques and TPMS

What it involved: Assessment Days

Led by Chris Hill, the final assessment days took place in Tamworth at our LKQ Academy, putting the participant's knowledge to the test with an agenda that included:

• Site safety briefing
• Written knowledge examination
• Rotational practical testing
• Structured feedback sessions

This project demonstrates Workshop Solutions' and LKQ Academy’s ability to listen to customer challenges, design practical training solutions and deliver industry-recognised qualifications that strengthen both individual careers and business performance.

The result: Confident, upskilled technicians ready to take on more hands-on responsibilities within Motorpoint’s workshops.
